MP James Maloney, Etobicoke-Lakeshore, hosted his annual International Women’s Day Breakfast on March 3rd at Canadiana Restaurant in Etobicoke, ON with special guest speaker Alexandra Chyczij, President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.
The event welcomed many members of the Etobicoke community, including MP Yvan Baker, Etobicoke Centre, and TDCSB Trustee Lubinski. Two TDCSB Principals Lily Hordienko, St. Demetrius Catholic School, and Lisa Tomeczek, Bishop Allen Academy also attended.
The event hosted several members of the League Of Ukrainian Canadian Women, as well as members of Franklin Horner Community Centre and the Kingsway BIA.
The participants enjoyed the inspiring address from Alexandra Chyczij, National President of Ukrainian Canadian Congress.
Alexandra Chyczij spoke on this history of the women’s rights movements in Canada and Ukraine, as well as her own story. She reminded us that Canadian women took on new roles for the first time in Canada’s past wars, just as Ukrainian women heroically defend their people and land on the frontlines of battle and in the towns and cities of Ukraine today.
