Late afternoon on Thursday, March 17, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Janchenko Bakery at 2394 Bloor Street West in Toronto to express his support for Ukrainian Canadians in the hard times of the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The bakery and cafe is a popular Eastern European desserts and comfort food spot in the heart of the area that many Canadians call Ukrainian Village.

Upon the arrival, Prime Minister spoke to the young street musician and was greeted by Arif Virani, the Liberal MP representing Parkdale – High Park, and the MPs from the adjacent ridings: Yvan Baker (Etobicoke Centre), James Maloney (Etobicoke-Lakeshore) and Julie Dzerowicz (Davenport).

Trudeau also spoke to Nadia and Oksana, the bakery's employees from Ukraine, who told him about their families in Ukraine. He asked them how  their families were doing and how often they communicate these days. Trudeau asked Nadia and Oksana to say hi to their families and convey to them his support and care for Ukraine.
