The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) expresses its deep condolences to the family of Mr. Stefan Genyk-Berezowsky, who passed away on December 15 at the age of 77.
Mr. Genyk-Berezowsky – a community leader and activist, journalist, broadcaster and actor – was highly respected by Canada’s Ukrainian community and beyond. For many years, he brought Ukrainian news into our homes on television programs Svitohliad and ForumTV.
A talented actor, he was a member of the “Zahrava” Ukrainian Drama Club and appeared in many plays. He was an M.C. at many community events, a member and counsellor in Plast, a teacher in Ukrainian schools and an active member of the Ukrainian Journalists of North America organization.
“On behalf of the UCC, I express my deep condolences to Mr. Genyk-Berezowsky’s family and his many, many friends,” stated Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the UCC. “Stefko – as we all knew him – made a valuable and lasting contribution to our community. We will always remember Stefan Genyk-Berezowsky’s kindness, humour and generosity. He will be greatly missed. May His Memory Be Eternal. Вічная Пам’ять!”
For his valuable contributions to the Ukrainian Canadian community, Mr. Stefan Genyk-Berezowsky was awarded the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Leadership Award in 2019.
