Dianna Fedun, President and Executive of UWOC-Toronto.
On Saturday November 27th members of Ukrainian Women’s Organization of Canada-Toronto Branch together with members from the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada – Christ the Good Shepherd, St Michael’s Church and parishioners gathered at Sixth Street to commemorate the Holodomor with a Divine Liturgy and Panachyda.
Fr. Taras Lozynsky lead us in prayer and acknowledged the good work OYK and the Women’s League do to help support those in need in our community. The Liturgy and Panachyda were live-streamed to those who were unable to attend.
After the Divine Liturgy just before the Panachyda, Nadia Ostapchuk read a poem recounting the horrific events of the Holodomor.
UWOC-Toronto has always recognized the importance of remembering the Holodomor with a Panachyda at our hall on Evans Ave. A decision to host one in a church is one I believe we’ll be doing again.
On behalf of OYK-Toronto, we would like to extend our heartfelt thank you to Fr. Taras Lozynsky, Patricia Latyshko, National UWOC President and Janice Taskey, President of the UCWLC, and all members who attended.
