The Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Edmonton Branch, hosted a short panakhyda (memorial service) by the Holodomor monument in front of Edmonton’s City Hall, to honour the memory of millions of innocent victims of the horrific crime of Holodomor committed against the Ukrainian people by the Stalinist Soviet regime, November 27.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there was no formal program. The memorial service was concelebrated by clergy from the Ukrainian Greek Catholic and Ukrainian Orthodox Churches. Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi participated along with members of both the federal parliament and provincial legislature.
