UWC Welcomes OSCE Resolution on Ukraine

Jul 15, 2014 | Newpathway, Community

The Ukrainian Wold Congress welcomes the Resolution on Clear, Gross, and Uncorrected Violations of Helsinki Principles by the Russian Federation adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe on 1 July 2014 condemning the brazen aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
The Resolution condemns “the clear, gross and uncorrected violation of the Helsinki principles by the Russian Federation with respect to Ukraine, including the particularly egregious violation of that country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” and considers the actions of the Russian Federation “to have been unprovoked, and to be based on completely unfounded premises and pretexts.” The Resolution specifically calls upon all participating States to refuse to recognize the forced annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation; and calls upon all participating States to support and adhere to mutually agreed and fully justified international responses to this crisis.
UWC President E. Czolij commented that the resoluteness of the global community in providing effective assistance for Ukraine at this critical juncture will demonstrate its true commitment to the Helsinki principles and ultimately ensure stability in Europe.
