New Pathway.
This year, the Ukrainian Credit Union Limited's scholarships were awarded at a special ceremony on May 18, at the Trident Banquet Hall (145 Evans Ave. in Etobicoke).
The UCU Community Leadership Awards were awarded to:
- Olena Bolonna (U of Toronto, Doctor of Medicine Program)
- Borys Ostapienko (McGill University, Biomedical Engineering),
- Kassandra Stefanyk (St. Mary’s, Bachelor of Science, Major in Biology),
- Natalie Tershakowec (U of Ottawa, working towards her JD).
The Board Chair’s scholarship was awarded to Natalia Stepanyuk (U of Ottawa, PhD in Political Science). The Eugene Roman Scholarship (established at last year’s AGM) was awarded to David Szlachtych (U of Guelph, Master of Bioinformatics). The Wasyl Sytnyk Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Melanie Zaraska (Dartmouth College, Bachelor of Arts in Economics). The Michael Rebryk Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Rana Solianik (U of Toronto, Masters of Occupational Therapy).
The awards were given out by members of UCU Board of Directors: Olya Sheweli, Natalia Lishchyna, Jerry Pryshlak and Taras Rohatyn.
In turn, the award recipients spoke warmly about the opportunities which UCU has given to numerous young members of the community to pursue higher education and community involvement.
