Listen Up! is an innovative artistic outreach program for elementary school students. Based on the premise that all children have the potential for artistic expression, Listen Up! engages entire communities in a hands-on, collaborative, multi-faceted arts creation process. Through poetry and writing, music composition and visual arts, students explore and discover their own unique voices with their work culminating in a celebratory concert for the entire school community. Listen Up!, a project of the Gryphon Trio, this year involves St. Demetrius School, Etobicoke.
The performance will include original compositions created by the students with librettist Paula Wing and composer Chris Thornborrow, student artwork created under the guidance of visual designer Madeline McKinnell as well as select pieces by the Gryphon Trio. The concert will include all program artists with more than 275 students.
Please Note: COVID-19 vaccination status will not be checked for this event. Face masks are not strictly required, but in the interests of public safety and the audience comfort face masks are strongly recommended.
